New Buildings Audits…
In our experience with building audits, we have been witness many ‘new’ buildings that have countless amounts of defects. ‘How is this possible?’, you ask!
Firstly, just because you have an Occupation Certificate, does not make the installations compliant irrespective of what the contractor is telling you.
Secondly, the contractor is issuing the certificate for an installation, wants above all to be paid. In some cases this means that the certificate of installation is issued regardless of whether the installation is 100% COMPLIANT OR NOT.
Thirdly, unidentified defects from installation can lay quietly for many years until they are identified. Sometimes too late to be able to claim under DLP leaving the cost squarely with the building owner.
So how can you proactively counter this situation?
